2023 Instigator Zinfandel:

Showing the influence of the breezy and fog-laced Oak Knoll District, the wine offers rich, plush fruit, delicate acidity and a structure defined by well-ripened, fine-grained tannins. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, dried herbs, and sandalwood on the nose. Expansive on the palate with notes of blackberry, orange peel, plum, and baking spices all driven to a long finish by balanced acidity.

Winemaking begins in the vineyard with meticulous attention to detail and close monitoring. Fruit is hand-harvested, sorted in the field, and sorted again at the winery.  After it’s destemmed, the grapes are then fermented in an open top tank with punch downs gently carried out two to three times per day. The grapes are then pressed and the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in 100% French oak barrels, of which 30% is new. Aged for 15 months in barrel.

The 2023 season was one of the coolest vintages in more than a decade that, as time progressed, showed all the markings of the spectacular vintage that ended up in the bottle. Several years of drought were erased in a single season as rains began just after the completion of the 2022 harvest and continued through the spring of 2023. Ample ground water and cool temperatures delayed bud break until April with flowering in mid-May. Moderate temperatures through the spring and summer allowed for balanced maturation across all vineyards - allowing us to pick at the perfect intersections of flavor, sugar, acid, and tannin maturity. Harvesting at began with earlier sites in September while moderate heat at the start of October accelerated picking that lasted through the end of the month.

2024 Foxy Roxy Rose:

All grapes were meticulously hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard to ensure only the highest quality fruit arrived at the winery. Upon crushing, the must underwent brief skin contact—less than 24 hours—before 15% of the free-run juice was delicately drained using the saignée method. The rosé juice was then fermented slowly at low temperatures to preserve its vibrant fruit character and aromatic finesse, as expressed in the tasting notes that follow.

Crafted exclusively from estate-grown Pinot Noir grapes from the cool-climate Carneros region, this rosé offers a vibrant and refined expression of site and varietal. Aromas of fresh strawberries and sun-ripened raspberries rise from the glass, leading to a palate that is lively and precise. The bright red fruit flavors are supported by a crisp, mineral-driven acidity that reflects the coastal influence of Carneros. Elegant and refreshing, this saignée rosé finishes with clarity and poise, capturing both the purity of the fruit and the finesse of its origin.

2023 Rebel Rouge Petite Sirah:

A 100% Petite Sirah blend with components from Rutherford, the Oak Knoll, Pope Valley, and St. Helena, the Rebel Rouge shows why Petite Sirah remains a vital part of Napa Valley’s grape growing traditions. Warm and inviting with notes of blackberry, plum and vanilla on the nose. Rich on the palate with clove, blackberry, fig, and white pepper. Elegant, mouth coating tannins frame this wonderfully complex Napa Valley Petite Sirah.

The 2023 vintage stands out as one of the coolest in over a decade, producing wines of exceptional balance, structure, and finesse. A historically wet winter marked the end of a multi-year drought, with steady rains beginning after the 2022 harvest and continuing through spring. This restored vital soil moisture and delayed bud-break until April, with flowering following in mid-May.

Mild temperatures throughout the growing season allowed for slow, even ripening across all vineyard sites. This extended hang time ensured optimal development of flavor, acid, sugar, and tannin — setting the stage for a standout vintage.

The resulting wines from 2023 show purity of fruit, vibrant acidity, and refined tannin structure — hallmarks of a vintage shaped by patience, precision, and ideal conditions.

2022 Roots and Vines Cabernet Sauvignon:

The 2022 growing season in Napa Valley began with abundant early rainfall, fostering strong vine development before transitioning into a prolonged dry period. A significant September heatwave accelerated ripening and harvest, followed by a brief, timely rain event that helped moderate vine stress. While the challenging conditions led to smaller yields and lighter clusters, the resulting fruit exhibited exceptional concentration and balance. The vintage is marked by intense fruit expression, integrated tannins, and a distinctive minerality—hallmarks of its resilience and quality.

A deep ruby hue signals the richness of this Oak Knoll District Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of blackberry, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate. On the palate, vibrant red fruit flavors—raspberry and strawberry—are met with supple tannins and nuanced notes of black pepper and dried herbs. Grown in the well-drained, gravelly soils of Oak Knoll, the wine’s structure is both elegant and approachable, leading to a silky, lifted finish that showcases its balance and complexity
